How can I make my dog friendly with my ferret?
I have a 9 year old Rottweiler, and I would like to be able to let my ferret be around her. What’s the safest way to teach her not to harm it. So far she doesn’t seem aggressive towards the ferret, but I don’t want to take any chaces. Any ideas are welcome, thanks =)
I would try and acclimate them the way you would with a cat.
You have to let the dog know the ferret is the boss. (the ferret already knows this) keep the dog on a leash so you can control it. then feed the ferret first. The ferret is first to go through doors. Make the ferret “pack leader”. Never let the dog bark or bother the ferret. These techniques worked with our cat. If either animal is over stimulated put them in their cage/crate. Never let the dog alone with the ferret. Make sure you are always controlling the situration.
